Star Wars Even More Crochet is here!

Guess what turned up today, specially delivered from the publishers via FedEx? Yes, I got my copies of my new book (and kit), Star Wars Even More Crochet, which has just come out in the US.

I think the box looks really good, I love seeing how nicely my figures photograph when the professionals do it, the design on the front and back looks great, and then you can see a photo of each character around the edges.

Inside the box you get the book with all twelve patterns, and then the yarn and everything else you need to make the Jawa and BB-8 - that includes a crochet hook, the eyes, a yarn needle, and don't forget to look under the packaging to find the stuffing.

For anyone else who's got or is going to get it, I've added the list of yarn I used to the post I wrote about the first book, Star Wars crochet - yarn used, hopefully that will help you find the yarn you will need for the rest of the characters.

I hope you have fun with it!

  3. Thank you for your patterns and these kits. I made all the characters from the first kit and they were a great hit! I just received two of the new kits (one for myself and one for my daughter.) The instructions are very clear and the finished characters are adorable. I appreciate your creativity and willingness to share! Thank you.

  5. Have you looked at the list of yarn in the post I linked to at the bottom of this post? That should give you some ideas, and you can always order online, but to find good yarn where you live it might be worth asking around on Ravelry. There are so many people on there, someone local should be able to help you.

  6. I just got my copy, can't wait to get started! Will these patterns go up on Ravelry (without the instructions, obviously) line with the last book so we can compare our projects to other people making the same patterns?

  7. They should, but I'm not entirely sure of the process with published books. I think the team at Ravelry have to input the information, but I'll try and find out.

  9. Hello Lucy,

    Congratulations!

I want to thank you for the lovely patterns that you so generously share with us. I have been following your patterns since I found the little bazaar items you made for your son's school, those patterns were on Craftster.

I ordered the first Star Wars kit, and also the Hollywood one as soon as they were out. However, although the patterns were delightful as usual, the hook and the wool that came with the kits WERE AWFUL AWFUL! Bad plastic hook, unusable. and awful wool. the one in the Hollywood kit wasn't enough for any one figure really.

I really want to buy this one, and will as I cannot resist your patterns, but i feel it would be good to give us a choice of book only or book n kit.
Boba Fett and Jabba the Hutt for her boyfriend. Will Post Pics in Ravelry.

Thank you again for your generosity in sharing your hard work with us!!!

    regards
    Muna Nana

  10. Hi Muna Nana,

Thanks, I'm pleased you like my patterns! As a rule, if you have a question about how a pattern works feel free to ask me. If you have an issue with the kit, or how the book is printed or sold, it's best to contact the publisher directly. For example, if there's not enough yarn, let them know. If you'd like to have the books sold separately, tell them and that will help inform their decisions.

I've been pretty impressed with the content of the Star Wars books, the hooks are metal, and there's everything you need, including a needle and the stuffing. I haven't tried the yarn myself, but I've heard different opinions on the quality, most people seem to be happy with it. It feels okay to me, and when you're making amigurumi you don't necessarily want it to be soft like yarn you'd want for something you'd be wearing.

  11. Hi there! Congratulations on publishing your books! Is there still any way to buy a single pattern of any of these?

  12. Thanks! All the patterns in the books belong to the publisher now, so I can't sell them separately myself.

  13. Hi Lucy, I am the hand model that the book publisher used for Star Wars Even More Crochet. As a crocheter for over two decades, I have to say I was very impressed with your patterns. Your work is incredible and you spared no expense on the details of each figure. Kudos for a job well done.

  14. Hi Krystal, that's so cool! I could tell the person doing it knew what they were doing, crochet-wise. Thanks, I'm pleased you like the figures.

  16. I was so excited to see this in stores. I loved your last Star Wars kit. It's what got me into amigurumi. Your patterns are so easy to follow. I wish you great success.

  18. Just wanted to share that I made Kylo Ren with a removable helmet by borrowing the head from Poe. I am having trouble settling on how to do his face - angry neutral or happy? Wish I could post a photo.

  19. Also I had to knit an i-cord to make the light sabers. Had two fails doing the sc spiral with worsted weight and 3.75mm hook. Thanks for the great patterns.

  20. I think you should do his face angry, or at least neutral, maybe with his scar? If you're on Ravelry, post the photo there, I'd love to see it.

I did the lightsabers in the first book with a sort of crochet i-cord, maybe you would have found that easier?

  21. Hi, thank you so much for creating these cute Star Wars Characters. I am confused as to which is the "front" and which is the "back" side? I see that the ones you made look more like the "back" side to me. I also wonder if there are options to crochet the eyes using yarn instead of the plastic eyes (think reduction in plastic use!) Thank you so much!

  22. I apologise for not replying to the last message - Blogger is not sending me notifications of new messages any more. I think I've sorted that, but if you leave a message on here and you don't get a reply you can contact me via Etsy messages (https://www.etsy.com/shop/lucyravenscar) or Ravelry (https://www.ravelry.com/designers/lucy-collin-2).
Tracette, the book shows an example of the 'right' and 'wrong' sides or crochet worked in the round, I always work with the 'right' side out.
The eyes on these figures would be a bit small to crochet I think, so it would be easier to embroider them.
